wHaT hApPeNeD iN OcToBeR
THREE MAJOR THINGS
firstly let me announce... i am officially going to Jamaica to work as a management trainee at sandals resorts.. initially i was thinkin abt goin to China or Hong Kong or even Taiwan to do my internship... but chances were bleak as wat i heard was tt the payyy is low and the working positions are not wat i desired... furthermore... most hotels in asia ar lookin for senior mgt positions to fill up the new htls tt ar openin.. esp in china...
as such... i tot of goin backkk to find a job.. mayb as a sales assistant or some back-end hotel job.. but mani htls hav management trainee programmes offered... i hav signed up for them and they did not get backkk to me... i am so worried if i could not find a job appropriately...
then i rem the career talk programme tt was held last mth where a placement company offered to place us at the carribean for a nominal fee.. i was rather curious abt it.. phone up and rang my folks and told me to go for it.. as i enquire abt the company's services... they told me it was a cross dept management training job for 5-24 mths.. wif tt.. i decided to go ahead wif the application.. also hav consulted my church leaders and friendz and they gave the support.. wif tt.. i will be officially headin to the country earli next yr...
the second thing is my participation of the school's honors society, Eta Sigma Delta.. unlike an alumni.. the honors society networks wif highhh performing students from a similar industry sch and industries leaders and they come to meet once in a yr for a conference appointed by the overall president.. commercially... its like a union membership..
dun get me wrongggg... im jus an average student.. but im gladdd to be accepted in this society.. its my honor.. lolzz
the criteria to get into the society is tt the student mus b hav an average grade of 62 for all subjects and mus b the top 20% of the cohort for undergraduates... thank God i got 63.. lolzz.. jus nice to get in.. to put it simply.. instead of a dean's list.. its like a dean's social networking association.. except the criteria is top 20% instead of top 5%... lolzz
so the chapter head... aka my lecturer told us tt the benefit of this society is the social networking uses it has and also on graduation each of us will receive a gold honor cord and a collar pin... wowww!!! cant wait hahahahhah
the next major thing... although its not does not impact me largely... it means a little something to me... but the process we gone thru was huge though..
it was the food and beverage concept and theme our group of 11 ppl proposed for our coursework.. as our sch has a mock restaurant set up for students.. we ran the whole operation of tt mock restaurant tt nite and it was simply awesome.. i was in charge of serving one longgg table and i flopped initially by spilling some drinks.. after tt the service was ok as the operations ran smoothly thereafter..
but wat realli made a difference tt nite was this..
"zw.. u ar realli a gddd server!! u provided us gddd service!!!"
i could not 4get how they filled up the feedback form heapin praises of the service tt i offered to them as a waiter.. i had no prior service experience at any food establishments.. not even in mcdonalds.. and yet to get such complements from my friends (so-called customers..) the greenhorn is absolutely flattered..
the final part of my adventure in IMI will come in the nxt entry..
