i am so inspired by this article written by NBA.com.. it is a write up on the analysis between kobe bryant of the LA lakers and joe johnson of the Atlanta Hawks..
They both have a versatile offensive game that's built on the ability to score in a multitude of ways -- from deep, off the dribble, catch-and-shoot -- while possessing the court sense and passing ability to get others involved. They score in a similar fashion."I've always been a big Joe Johnson fan, he's extremely versatile," Bryant said. "Go left. Go right. Shoot it. He's a very good player."
"I still like to watch him as a player, I'm still a fan," Johnson said. "It's a little different when you're in the NBA playing against him, but most definitely, I watch him and try to take little things that he used to do and try to put it into my game." With one exception:
"I just think Kobe is head and shoulders above everybody in terms of his tenacity and will to compete, that killer attitude and instinct that he has," according to Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw, who is responsible for scouting the Hawks.
Everything that seemed so similar before starts to bear no resemblance. Bryant's success starts in his head and the body follows. Johnson is still the other way around.
Maurice Evans, Bryant's former backcourt mate in L.A. and Johnson's current backup in Atlanta, agrees. "I think you see a little bit of the mental edge [with Bryant] as far as the confidence level, as far as winning championships and having a greater level of success," Evans said. "When [the Hawks] played Boston last year and they went to Game 7, Kobe's been in situations where he's actually won that game and had that type of success. Once Joe gets that under his belt, I think he can start playing on that level."
wow... it realli blew my mind away.. it is not jus skills and talent.. it is the mental edge and the killer insticts.. and its not jus bball.. whenever in work.. play or watever we do.. the skills equipped and the knowledge acquired is not enuff 2 prove to the world tt we ar gdd.. it is the mental edge and the instincts tt we hav giv us an adv over the rest..
i totally agree wif the article tt kobe's success comes from the head and then to the body.. most of the times our body would b jus plain flat.. un-energize and not feel like doin anythin.. but if we hav the mentality 2 win.. we mus command our body 2 move into the plan we had in the mind and not let the body do the decisions..
im so determined 2 train my mental toughness.. somewhere in the army days... in my bball hyperactive days i was able 2 activate it but now im gettin a little complacent becoz my body tells me tt i hav done it all.. but somehwere at the back of my head somethin tells me tt there is more..
i realli gotta believe tt there is more..
