im quite inspired by the actions tt Mr Nathan illustrated 2 us durin 2dae's lecture.. as singaporeans.. we mus noe our rights.. once we knew what we hav.. we could do things our way..
here's a couple tt he shared wif us..
Mr Nathan had a phone call from an unknown caller.. knowin tt it was a scam or rather timesharing.. he actualli agreed wif the caller 2 go down 2 the office "to collect a pair of tickets 2 perth from a lucky draw tt he had won," when he reached there.. he saw many housewives watching a video on the company products jus as he expected.. so he approached the lady-in-charge and the conversation goes like this accordin 2 him:
Nathan: "Hi, i was told tt i could collect my tickets 2 perth,"
Lady: "oh no, sir, u hav 2 watch our video first,"
Nathan: "no, i was told 2 come here and receive the tickets, i wasn't told tt i will be watching a video,"
lady, "oh no sir, watch the video 1st, then the tickets will be given,"
Nathan, "don't u understand wat i say? i did not come here 2 watch the video!! i was told by the caller tt i could come here and claim the tickets! now where are my tickets? Give it to me or u all will b in trouble!"
the lady freaked out.. went to call her mgr.. the mgr came and he somewhat look like a bouncer accordin 2 Mr Nathan
Nathan (at the top of his voice) : "look, the caller rang me up and say tt i could redeem my TICKETS 2 PERTH in a lucky draw.. now u guys wan me 2 watch the video..i didn't come here 2 watch the video.. im only here 2 get my tickets 2 perth.."
mgr aka bouncer: "oh no sir, there mus b a mistake.."
Nathan: "no how can this b a mistake? the caller called my handphone twice, she said clearly tt i would jus hav 2 come down and redeem my tickets.."
at this time the housewives ar already lookin at the whole lot of them.. so the mgr brought Mr Nathan 2 a secluded place 2 tok..
Nathan: "look, i can charge you with 2 things - firstly, u got my handphone through an unauthorized manner where my no. is supposed 2 b confidential.. secondly ur caller told me CLEARLY tt i hav 2 come here onli 2 redeem the tickets.. so i suggest u better giv me the tickets or i'll bring this matter up 2 my lawyers.."
the mgr freaked out.. thus he gave the tickets as was told..
on another occasion.. he was proposing tt the hotel staffs of a certain htl ar to hav training sessions and thus they need 2 hav an xtra 3 days off for thje selected staffs.. the mgrs all agreed.. but they would hav 2 obtain permission from the head mgr.. it was told tt the head mgr was a fearsome person as she was not a person 2 tok to..
Mr Nathan decided tt he should speak tactfully 2 her and so he started by givin her a call..
the phone did not pick up.. he tried again and it was in vain.. at the 3rd time he left a msg on her voice call and still she did not call back..
frustrated.. he managed 2 get contacts from the lower lvl staffs 2 ask abt her whereabouts.. and the secretary replied tt she was actualli in her room.. so Mr Nathan told the secretary this,
Nathan: "ask her 2 call me regardin the trainin proposal by tomolo, if she doesn't, i will contact wif the papers and tell them tt this certain htl would not grant their staff an xtra 3 days leave for trainin.."
within 10min the head mgr called.. she apologizes profusely and gave excuses tt they were coordinatin some talks and sales from clients and she went on and approved the training prog..
pastor was right saying tt "knowledge is power", when u ar resourceful and u noe wat 2 do.. u wont b helpless in situation such as these..
